Hello guys, Anyone know if carbon fiber whells are less durable than alluminium whells ? I choosed for my GTS carbon fiber whells and I am wondering if I did not made the wrong choice Thank you so much Dan
If you hit a bad pot hole you can crack the wheel. There is no point in the carbon wheel. It looks great. Shame they don’t make the sane wheel in an alloy.
The carbon wheel is a good choice for the GTS. Drops a lot of unsprung weight and will make the ride better on less than perfect streets. A lot of money though like all Ferrari options.
Carbon Wheel will increase performance (unsprung weight), ride quality, and as long as you don't curb them they are incredibly strong even in heavy racing applications. The company that makes them has invested a lot of money in perfecting the technology. You made an excellent choice.
i plan on getting them. it'll be an adventure for sure. for a real driver- not a collector or flipper- it will be an adventure having these wheels. but if any one will appreciate them it is the guy who likes to drive his cars and track them once in a while. drivers like these already look for potholes and the like. shiite can still happen. but reward never came without a risk. i also have a 2024 range rover sport sv coming with carbon wheels as my daily. so i might as well go balls to the wall.
As mentioned, you can't repair CF wheels. Depending on your country, curbs scrapes can be an issue and scraping a curb with CF wheels is a problem. I'm in Denmark and I've had to repair curb scrapes 3 times in past 2 years because curbs here are made of stone and sharp so I have polished wheels. I'm moving to Florida and have ordered CF wheels on my 296 GTS because the curbs are less an issue.
