I've never heard of this and can't imagine any useful weight savings. It'd be one thing if the 355 had a sunroof with heavy mechanisms that could be ditched. But the roof is just a thin piece of sheet metal. Doesn't weigh much to begin with.

I think he's referring to a GTS roof panel.
    Could be an interesting piece.

I've seen them but...It's not a structural piece, so wouldn't really be any lighter than fiberglass because strength isn't an issue. It's similar to carbon interior pieces, they have no structural importance so carbon is just for looks. You can't really make them much thinner and hence lighter, you're using similar amounts of plastic, just a different strand type internally. If it's load bearing or needs some structural rigidity it's a different story altogether...If you want a lighter and more rigid car, the GTB is the one you want.

I have seen them made of solid CF for sale on the web. The issue was there were no latches on it, if they expect you to drill and tap to mount without metal bosses in the CF they would just pull out. Looked nice, totally unusable.

Yes, but it's eye-watering. Full seals, all the way around would likely be >$2000, not including latches.
