Hi Lambo guys Over in Ferrariland, all cars post 1980 were moved from Webbers to FI due to emissions. How is it that, per the link below, that Lambo avoided this? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=8382 Thanks
Maserati did the same thing... They held on to Webers till the end! The big 4Porte used the (4) 42DCNF's all the way throught the production run 1979 - 1987. And the Biturbo series from '84 - '87 Used a single Weber until they finally caved in and went to fuel injection with the '89 & '90 228's and 430's (just before they pulled out of the USA until 2002).
The Maserati company was actually among the fuel injection pioneers in the early 1960s, with the 3500 GTi, 5000 GT, Sebring, and Mistral models. But, it is correct that Maserati went back to Weber carburators from the mid-1960s to late-1980s. Some of the Maserati-engined Citroën SMs were fuel injected though...
Lamborghini North America in Torrance was working on FI for the Countach in 1984. There was a ton of grey market stuff going on back then...at least for Lambos. Fred
