    So it looks like the BBi start-up procedure is fairly well ironed out; How it should start, and where to look if it doesn’t start as it should.
    So how about its carbed older brother?
    No accumulators to maintain fuel pressure, just the bunch of Webers on top.
    The stone cold starting procedure for mine goes something like this;
    Ignition key on to turn on fuel pumps, and let the pumps run until they sound smooth, as in all the carb float bowls and fuel lines are full. Give about 2 or 3 good pumps on the gas peddle, wait a couple seconds, and start. From stone cold, my engine cranks over a couple times, starts, then idles smooth at about 600 rpm until it warms up.
    For a hot start, turn the key on to let the pumps run until they smooth out, usually just a few seconds when hot, give a half a pump on the gas, and start. The engine cranks a couple times, starts, and idles at about 1100/1200 rpm.
    So what's the procedure with your carbed car?

    when cold turn the key run pumps and give several pumps on the throttle, crank it will usually have a brief fire then die, depending how cold determines how many repeats till it idles, can't touch the fuel or it will die until it begins to get warm after a couple minutes so just let it idle.

    warm it will start after running the pumps with no throttle but prefers a pump, if she wont start because I didn't wait long enough for the fuel bowls to fill give wide open throttle and she'll fire right up

    I use the same procedure as JP, however I also use the choke on cold starts. I generally also get the fire, die, fire, die sequence a few times if I haven't driven it in the last week or so.

    On hot starts, I find it works best to turn the key on, give it several pumps of the throttle, and start cranking. As I crank, I start gradually pushing in the throttle until it fires.
