    I was working late last night at my satellite office when a cop knocked on the door. Is that your Mercedes out there ? Parked on a fairly busy street they smashed the window and grabbed the laptop sitting on the back seat.

    I usually keep two laptops and my backpack with an iPad in it.

    No more, lesson learned.

    You had a laptop visible/ on the rear seat? If yes, you were asking for it. Im sorry to say and sorry that we live in this type of world but i never/ever let anything other than a sweater or a car magazine inside my car. I either take things with me or i put it in the trunk and when i do, i always make sure people arent watching.

    I learned this when i was a kid and my mother had her car window smashed 5 or 6 times (in an upscale Paris neighborhood) to have her stereo stolen (Nothing super fancy..). If they have the time to steal the stereo, then they really have the time to smash the window and take whatever is on the seats.

    Hope your insurance pays and that you didnt lose too much valuable data.
