Is there anyone around who can run a carfax for me?

    1GDFG15T151190192

I'm trying to help a neighbor who lost his job move a van quickly. I was asked by a potential buyer for a Carfax report....thought I'd ask here before spending $...

You can Email me at [email protected]

    Thanks!

How much do you guys pay for carfax these days? I’m curious if it's worth the cost. I’ve heard mixed opinions, but from my experience, it can be really helpful for getting detailed vehicle history reports, especially if you’re buying or selling a car. I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether you think the subscription or one-time purchase is a good value for the money

NO, IMO, it's not worth it with these cars. There is no requirement for any shop to report to Carfax and whether all independent specialists in these and similar cars would do so anyway is unlikely. PLUS many (most?) of these cars are maintained by individual owners so there would be no Carfax record of repairs they made. IOW, one of the things people look at in a Carfax report is a history of repairs...and if they are made by the owner or an independent shop that does not report to Carfax, they would not show up. IOW, if a starter motor had failed/been replaced multiple times by the owner, Carfax knows nothing.

OTOH, when considering the price of one of these cars, the cost of a Carfax report doesn't even get on the radar. So there's that! ;)

Late model cars...yeah, they are more likely to be "maintained and repaired" by a Carfax "affiliated" dealer/large independent shop.
