    has anyone replaced their carpet and how easy is it for someone who hasn't done it before. Seems fairly straight forward. Any tips or tricks?

    The only tip I have is take your time. Properly test fit each piece before gluing. And I usually glue half of it at a time. Fit it, firmly hold it in place and fold it in half. Glue the half then unfold it in place. Then do the other half. A large piece with contact cement is sometime hard to position properly in one shot and you have no second chance. This is how I do it.
