Any recommendation for someone that makes carpet sets?

Does dynomat soundproofing really work? Was looking to place some on the bare metal floor to suppress road noise (the engine sound is just fine, thanks).

I use the Dynomat in on of my Sciroccos. It's in the doors, under the carpet and under the hood. It is better then nothing but it's REALLY heavy.

You can buy the stuff online. I seem to recall it comes in a couple of different thicknesses. I used some on a Miata ten years ago. Should help with absolute level and importantly, changes tone. On the Mazda, I lined the truck, removed the carpeting, lined the passenger cell and passenger doors. Seemed to help, especially with the hardtop fitted. Merit of doing this on (only) an open topped car is open for debate, however.

I just finished sound deadening my son’s 300zx with Fatmat. We used their rattletrap product and it did a great job. It is comparable to dynamat extreme, but is less expensive and sticks better. I have tried both products and I like Fatmat better.

The only downside to such a project is the added weight to a car and the time it takes to install. I think that spent about $160 to complete the project.

The rattletrap is their thicker sound deadening material and a little more difficult to install.

I put the stuff everywhere in my 308. Extreme on the rear firewall and around the front wheel arches and the regular stuff everywhere else. The result? I couldn't really tell the difference. That could be because I almost always have the top off, but if I had it to do again, I wouldn't. If fact, I like it so much, I may even pull it all out. I think the reason is that the 308 is fiberglass not steel. Sound damping, as I understand it, relies on material density/stiffness changes and fiberglass is neither dense enough nor stiff enough for the mat to really work. Your results may vary :)

I've used both, both are nice. The world upholstery kit needed some fitting work, trimming, etc, but is very high quality carpeting.

Thanks Tommy (Roll Tide!), Marks and Dave.

World Upholstery said they could not do a coupe, and GAHH said no, and Re-originals is backordered into eternity. Wonder how difficult it would be to have a set made by an upholstery shop? Perhaps a nice set of Cocomats for this child of the 70s....

Since I am intersted in road noise drumming up through the floor, I may try the Fatmat floor kit designed especially for that. The best thing I ever did so far for road noise is get rid of those gawdawful OE Goodyears...

GG Bailey does floor mats to any template you send them.

They might be able to do bound pieces for you, as long as none of them are formed.

Gahh sells the carpet by the yard too (at least they used to) so if you don't need anything molded, any decent shop should be able to copy what you have.
