Dumb question probably... but going through my interior now. There is no carpet under the floor mat. Is that normal?
So there's the floormat... but when I take out the floormat, there's no carpet underneath... it's just the floor.
Good timing. Here’s a picture of factory original 308Qv carpet floor mats I just pulled to measure and underneath them is a vinyl floor mat, then the floor. I have a set of CocoMats on top of the original floor mats to keep them protected. They’re not original, but CocoMats are highly recommended if you need floor mats. https://www.cocomats.com/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, it is. That's a supersport car and they don't add weight just to put a carpet under another carpet: so if you remove the carpet you will see the body panel ciao
A lot of cars no longer have their original floor carpeting due to wear. The original carpets laid on the vinyl floor cover and were affixed to the vinyl with velcro strips front and back. The factory carpets were identical Wilton wool to the rest of the interior carpeting and had black rubber heel pads stitched onto them. There were no logos or other graphics on the factory carpets.
Not sure what model year your car is, but according to the spare parts manual only the QV's had those vinyl sections/coverings under the front carpets listed as a spare part. My QV definitely has them. They're a basic piece of matt black vinyl, affixed with double sided tape to the fibreglass floor of the driver and passender footwells. They are referred to as 'RH front under carpet' p/n 61597100 and 'LH front under carpet' 61597200 (these are for LHD models) in the Ferrari parts catalogue. Both p/n appear to be available. Otherwise just makeup some paper templates yourself, then off to an upholsterer and get them cut for you from a piece of simple plain vinyl (or even DIY).
The early cars I side with Albert, the mats have snap rivets to the floor and they ARE the carpet athough to some they would say "a mat".. The heel pad is on it as opposed to some carpets wear the heel mat rides a "loose mat". There's safety considerations to having more than one piece. And as posted the later version was careful to mount it to the floor. Maybe the carpet section still had the snaps???
The factory carpets on my QV (post #5) came with Velcro sewn on the back as noted in post #8. Wilton wool looks nice, and I’m glad to have the original set, but CocoMats are a more durable choice. Note the original passenger mat doesn't cover the entire floor if that's what you want.
