488 CarPlay (again)

Doesn’t sound right. 2018 488 here and carplay works just fine with latest iphone.

When you say yours “doesn’t work” what are the symptoms? (You do know its not wireless?)

 

Something along these lines happened in my G wagon. I then went onto the iphone setting and found carplay, tapped it and everything started to work then.

 

Two suggestions:

1. have you tried using a different cable- often times the cable just doesnt mate up well to the connectors/ its gone bad.

2. have you tried resetting the phone? (on modern iPhones its press volume up, let go, then volume down, then let go and only hold the side button until the screen goes blank)

 

I am not near my car for the next couple of days, but it should be easy for someone else to press the car play button with no phone attached. I am pretty sure there is a message that gets displayed on the screen. That would give you enough to go back to the dealer. Although frankly I’d be changing dealers.

 

Couple of other things while we wait for someone to do that .

On the phone
1. Siri needs to be enabled
2. Settings/general/carplay make sure it is set to “allow carplay while locked”

with ignition on (but engine not running) and iPhone *not* connected when you press the Apple car play button on the 488 you get a screen displaying the message “please connect your car play enabled device”. So there’s your answer. It’s your car not the phone. Change dealers! Image Unavailable, Please Login
