Are any of these cars street legal in Australia? Apart from whether or not they are RHD, are there any other issues that stop them from been driven on the road here?
The Zonda, koenigsegg and veyron all are if they are RHD. CGT was never made in RHD and who the hell would want a Saleen S7
I would say theres not alot stopping a modern car being road legal other than RHD problems. Other issues that i can think of off the top of my head are ride height, noise/emissions regs, or some other stupid govt reason.
They put plates on the ex-BMW Papaya orange resprayed McLaren F1? If anyone's got a pic of the rego sticker then that might solve all problems.. Is the Enzo unregisterable for the reason that it is LHD? How about that sticker you can get that says "attention, Left Hand Drive car"? What are the reasons for F40 and F50 not being able to be registered?
Carrera GT - No Zonda - Yes Koenigsegg - Yes Saleen S7 - No Veyron - No. Street Legal is still a state thing. A car could be legal in WA and completely illegal in NSW etc etc.
As far as the Veyron is concerned, every article I've read has said that if anyone if willing to stump up $3.2 million then Bugatti will build you a RHD one to be street legal.
Bugatti just put the price up on the Veyron...........by 80,000 POUNDS. That aside, if you had manufacturer involvement you could probably get it past the donkeys in Canberra.
So that would put it just under 1 million pounds then. So $2.5 mill plus your taxes here then. Bugger!
plus 35%, plus GST, plus stamp duties to register- give or take a percent here or there. It's a wonder scud isn't looking into one
another question is how many of these are street legal in NZ? here's the two things i'll be doing when i have the means... store a murci (or something else 300kph+) in alice, and fly up for a daytrip every week or two to take it for a legal hyperdrive. store a super-exotic in NZ, and go there for a weekend every month or so to blast out the cobwebs. how financially feasible is the NZ option compared to owning one here?
