    Listen to Sterling :)

I have been in the market for a bit... the right car has not shown up. Bought something else for now but will be continuing to search for the "right"car more me (I am patient - especially given where the world economy is headed). But I can't wait to bring one home when the time is right.

Yesterday on 11th Avenue in New York City, a Carrera GT met its demise - luckily nobody was physically hurt during this demonstration of "what not to do as a supercar owner."

This was WP0CA298X5L001340, a USA-delivered '05 car originally finished in Seal Grey Metallic over Dark Grey, then converted to Gemballa Mirage GT specification later in life for the current owner.

Now, maybe it's the time to return it (if it's possible) to its original condition! I believe it is fixable (of course with a lot of money).

With enough money any VIN plate can be rebuilt into a car again. :)

I'm surprised that the CGT doesn't have a battery disconnect in the event of an accident. Maybe it does and Gemballa removed that feature? The guy was able to keep it running and later turn the car on again.

I wonder what caused the right rear wheel to collapse? It seems a long way from the initial crash.

At ~ the 27 second mark you can see the owner, Ben Chen, clip the rear on another parked car while he was fleeing the scene of the initial accent:

I'm still trying to figure out why he wasn't handcuffed immediately?

    Fantastic question!

Any car can generally be restarted and driven after an accident assuming the drivetrain is still in working order... it would be a safety hazard for a crashed car to be disabled & therefore not be able to be driven off a roadway.

You may be thinking of full racing cars, which generally have an external battery cut-off switch for track stewards to use if necessary.

BMW and MB have the battery disconnect systems for a while now. BMW calls it Battery Safety Terminal and MB pre-fuse/pyrofuse.

I'm surprised Porsche doesn't honestly unless it's been modified by Gemballa.

You're totally right, I guess my car knowledge is too old school...

On some quick research it looks like Cayennes have them, can't find evidence for any other Porsches

CGT's are kinda homely. I'd take a Ford GT any day I could have the choice.

Noticed the infamous Arancio Borealis example showed up again on ClassicDriver under Copley's inventory. Is there just something about this car that keeps it bouncing from seller to seller than to an owner? I could see the barely used miles, PTS & options justifying a high asking price, but I've read it's gone from $1.9M (original asking price) to $1.45M to $1.2M (RM's high est. when they had it). Wonder if it'll finally find a home.
