Seinfeld's ex-Carrera GT just sold on BaT for $1.865M. The Mecum $1.2M sale a few weeks back looks like a steal all of the sudden. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
The Mecum sale you are referring to happened over 6 months ago in August 2021. There have been quite a few sales since then at these levels, some touching $2M.
1.65 not too bad for low miles CGT Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This one was unfortunately plagued by some rodent damage hence the result, info in description: https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2005-porsche-carrera-gt-5/ "Major service carried out by Porsche Gold Coast in February of 2021 included the replacement of the fuel tank due to rodent damage, which required extensive disassembly of the vehicle for inspection and replacement of any other damaged components." "...the cabin emits a strong musty odor as the car sat idle in an enclosed garage nearly its entire life. The interior is recommended for reconditioning by the next owner."
Interesting, quite a few higher mileage CGT’s coming onto the market and a couple imported back to the U.S. from Europe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jan.28 '23 SOLD for $1,595,000 https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/2005-PORSCHE-CARRERA-GT-260968 Repainted with only 3,300 miles Image Unavailable, Please Login
I can't believe someone would pay 1.6m for a moldy car. You'll never get the smell out of that interior. You can't put a car in a Barn for years with just a cover over it. Store it with a handfull of Mothballs inside and wrap it in a giant piece of plastic after you drive on top of it with foam tire savers. I use Dura Skrim. Farm plastic. Wrap it like a Tootsie roll. Keeps the Rodents out. The napthalene prevents the mold from forming. The napthalene smell will disappear a few weeks after you break it open and drive it. Even steel brake rotors will still look new. Been doing it for years.. I live in the Snow belt and we can only enjoy our cars for 6 months a year.
I saw one on a highway in North Dallas Saturday and told my passengers how much they go for. Shock and Awe.
