#0059 I drove this one for 3 days to get all the rediness monitors set prior to state inspection & smog testing. The process was prolonged by there being an issue with the inspection station machine that would not communicate properly with this car. I ended up having to take it to another facility that used a different brand of smog machine. I flogged it around for the better part of 3 days with the owners approval. At one point the owners head of security called me & asked if I could give one of their guards a ride back to their house since I was close to their private hanger where he was just dropped off at. I was scared to drive it fast with him in the car but he told me to go ahead and drive it the way I normally do, so I did. I'm a Ferrari guy but those 3 days ended up being the best motoring experience I have ever had. I've literally driven at least a couple hundred Ferraris but this CGT was the pinnacle for me! I know this car was sold. Does anyone know where it ended up? I know this car… it has a few more miles on it now. When I drove it the car was absolutely flawless! Crazy market. It sold for $860k in 2015. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Recall 18 years later! Porsche Carrera GT Models Recalled Due to Crash Risk Porsche will notify all affected Carrera GT owners by June 2. Replacement parts for the supercar are hard to come by, so upon inspection, if a recalled Carrera GT shows signs of abnormality, the owner will be advised not to drive it until replacement parts are available. Once available, the owner will be notified, and parts and replacement costs will be covered by Porsche. If a recalled supercar appears to be problem-free, the owner will be sent on their way. The suspension issue, which turned out to be disintegrating spherical joints (or ball-in-socket joints), was identified by Porsche after several years of studies. The year 2019 was when Porsche saw its first, then-isolated example of breaking spherical joints in a Carrera GT. Over the next year, the company examined 20 more Carrera GTs but were unable to replicate the problem. The issue resurfaced during more testing in other markets and areas of the world between 2021 and early-2022. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/porsche-carrera-gt-recall/
Soooooo if you have a recalled car, and you can’t get parts, I assume legally selling it might be hard……maybe I’m wrong.
Sadly my desired Carrera ownership days are over . Pretty much retired so the earning days are reduced . Time to be sensible right ? Honestly I never really appreciated the car until about 10 years ago and then it hit me. Back then I did find a low mile black one that had been driven off a track into the weeds damaging the front bumper cover and some underbody but structure Ok . Alas it had a “history” even though expertly repaired . 600k ask . I offered 500 . Gotta start somewhere right ? Offended owner shut me down . Oh well . Those numbers were my comfort zone. But now I just bought a “mini Carrera GT” in a Ruf 3800S and hope to feel the buzz years later even if less oomph and a couple of pounds more . Hey just like me !
Potentially interesting sub-topic…..if you wanted to get as close as possible to a CGT (because I’ll never get close unless there is a big price increase on bratty teenagers) but keep to a budget of say $350k, what would you pick? 1. Lamborghini EVO Spider - Similar in a lot of ways, high revving V10, similar HP, mid engine….. biggest miss is the transmission 2. McLaren 720S spider - close to the same similarities as the EVO, but also turbo along with the transmission miss and only a V8 3. ‘05-06 Ford GT - A little out of the box but was a contemporary, biggest miss is a V8 and not an open air car (leaving out the GTX1 as kind of kit-car ish).
I will give you the simplest answer….. A 991 Speedster. Do yourself a favor. It’s the way every retired Carrera GT owner will go. It’s natural and even has baby CGT sounds. You basically get 8/10th of the car at a fraction and it’s just more fun with less worry.
A "Baby CGT" must have a manual transmission or else it's not even on the same planet in terms of driving experience/engagement. Comparing any car with paddles to a CGT is "Apples to Oranges."
