Here is an exceedingly rare item. A Floyd Clymer book about the Carrera Panamericana Mexican Road Race. A legendary race with legendary cars and drivers. So famous that both Ferrari and Porsche named cars after the event.
Published in 1950, this book documents the legendary road race. Results, photos and stories of the event. What makes this book very special is that it is hand signed by some of the greatest names in automotive history.
These gentlemen were in attendance at a special reunion held at the Petersen automotive museum on May 6, 2000. I had personally had it signed at the event. It is signed by Carroll Shelby, Phil Hill, Smokey Yunick, AK Miller, John Fitch, Robert Petersen, Roger Ward, Ray Brock, Hershel McGriff and Jack McAfee.
Sadly, none of these icons of the sport are with us any longer. Another edition of this book was auctioned at the event back in 2000 and sold for well over 1000. This is an irreplaceable piece and a must have for a Carrera enthusiast. The book is in excellent condition and the signatures are clear and easily read. The Book has been carefully stored in my collection since the event. I will also include the event flyer from the special evening. 2500.
