This is an absolutely wonderful thread. Thanks to all the posters, and to Marcel for starting it. Cris

Does anyone have a photo of the 'other' 212 Export Vignale Cabriolet, 0110 E when it was with HI in Germany in the 1980's/or any earlier period- before it was restored? Thanks Marcel, Ed, and everyone for such a great thread (my laptop's desktop is 0226 AT, until someone posts a really cool shot of 0224 AT).
For Readplays: 212 cabriolet 110E when is was red. Kind Regards, Joop van der Meer Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Ed, what's the story with the dashboard in this car.Did Michelotti really design this? Give us the scoop. just one man's opinion tongascrew
Marcel, is it true, that it started its life as 0353EU, a 250 GT EU Vingnale Cabriolet (colour scheme?) and was then converted to a 375 AL (reason for conversion?) and that it was previously owned by Steve McQueen (true?)? Matthias
Born as a 250 Europa. NEVER owned by Steve McQueen!!! Complete nonsense. Don't believe websites...... Chassis number suffix changed by the factory from “EU” to “AL”. Engine enlarged by the factory from 250 Europa (3 liter) to 375 America (4.5 liters). Original exterior color: Black with tan soft top (plus a detachable hardtop). Original interior color: Black. Chassis type 103 (type 250 Europa). Wheelbase 2800 mm. Engine type 103 (type 250 Europa), transformed by factory into type 104 (375 America). Engine block #0353 AL, internal #0108. Chassis identification plate shows “0353 EU”. Gearbox type 103-104, internal #54 D. Rear axle type 103, internal #58 D. One-off alloy body by Vignale. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti. Wraparound panoramic windscreen. Marcel Massini
I wasn't there to see it in person; the photo was taken by Bill Domm. I've always assumed that it was black but now, even looking at the original photograph and negative, I cannot say for certain that it wasn't dark blue at the time.
205MM 0334MM when it was burgundy/silver and with bumpers. I have been told that the man at the wheel is Alfred Hopf. Before him the car was owned by Peter Monteverdi who raced it. Later he created cars under his own name. Kind Regards, Joop van der Meer Image Unavailable, Please Login
To answer the questions, I think that 0170 was used in a Bill Rudd ad; the dash on 0266 is as I got it; I posted the pic as I thought it unusual also; 0353 was dark blue when owned by Fitch. Here's a color pic. Image Unavailable, Please Login
