Damn it Udo! If I knew you were going, I would have made more of an effort. I finished my ride at 9 and could have met you there. Oh well, Ann said she saw your car exiting the C and C and your car sounds.......great.
Great event and awesome photo weather. Big THANKS to our fellow enthusiasts who brought out the HOLY GRAIL of Ferrari's! Awesome pictures Pat!!!
Thanks Steve. And yeah, when I saw the forecast last night I was pretty happy. And I was much more happy when I got there, weather was great and I saw the GTO, not to mention all the other great cars that were out.
Pat - your pictures are world class. I don't know why you are not working for some global outfit making spectacular images that should be seen by everyone...
Great pictures Patrick. As ususal, you have created beautiful images of these beautiful cars. Thanks!
Great cars! Great weather! Good friends! and outstanding pictures (as usual)... Thanks Pat! So, where is my 'lowly' SL55?
The "dark side" is calling you................"Dino, your thoughts betray you.........you want a Lambo............."
Thanks Alex, I really appreciate that. It helps to have great subjects. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a shot I think turned out kind of cool. I really wish I would've gotten more shots of the two cars together... I always like seeing different generations/eras of the same/similar cars, especially when they're the same color like these two. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And thanks everyone else. As the others said, yes. A '62 and from what I've found online from it's serial number, 3387, it's the second GTO produced. It was raced at Sebring in March of '62 and placed second over all and first in GT with Phil Hill and Oliver Gendebien behind the wheel. It later raced at Le Mans in June of '62 and then went on to race in NART and by a privateer after that. It's one of very few GTOs raced as a factory team car. It's been repainted a number of times since it was built (silver, then red and now blue, I believe), but it's significant enough that Hot Wheels sells a 1:18 of it (in red). Here's a photo of it in '62 at Sebring and another pic of it at a GTO reunion in 2004 (neither are my pics, obviously). Right up front, which again, should say something about it's significance. The car has a fairly interesting history (including being stolen by six men in the Savannah area in '90). Again, this is all stuff I just found online, so I could be wrong. I'm not pretending to be an expert by any stretch of the word. Source of pics: http://www.web-cars.com/gto/racing_f-gto.php Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've edited an uploaded many more pics from the day. Up to 75 now, which can all be seen in high-res here: http://desert-motors.com/cpg/thumbnails.php?album=183 Still have quite a few more to go through, though. Maybe it is just me, but these pictures always seem better than my recollection of the actual event. Shoot. These pics are so good, I am tempted to just sleep in and wait for the pics to be posted. Also, interesting hourr to be posting these pictures. I thought I was the only night owl....
Thanks. And yeah, I get pretty bad sometimes... I've been on a terrible schedule recently... getting to bed around 6am or later on average over the last week. I only slept less than an hour before making my way out to the C&C this weekend.
So what you're saying is that even half asleep you can take better pictures than any other mo fo with a camera. Well, the proof is in the pudding. I feel your pain though. Get some sleep. And thanks for taking the time to take and post all these awesome pics.
Patrick, all I can saw is WOW! You never cease to amaze me. Nice homework on the GTO as well. What a great C&C; great weather, great cars and most important great friends.
