I'll be there with my red 1983 308 GTS QV. It has a chrome & green rear "Ferrari of Monterey" license plate frame if there happens to be more than one red Ferrari there.
I was all set to go with the Boano, but it's raining up here on Skyline, near Alices? I'm missing parts to my inner fender wells, so opted out. Hopefully someone can give a full report, complete with photos? Same for the Drive from Fogarty Winery to Canepa this morning?
Didn't miss much. No photos sorry. I would say there were maybe 80-100 cars there. Lots of Fords obviously, a handful of exotics including maybe 8 Ferraris while I was there, McLarens, Ford GTs, Cobras (at least ONE real AC 427), a handful of Hellcat and Camero LT1s, GT350s, Vipers and other curiosities and one offs. Interestingly there weren't many duplicate Ferraris. The venue was unusual -- a Ford research facility with a bunch of E F-150s and E mustangs out front. But pull around the back with controlled access to parking, in and out, and a dozen of Ford employees running around in their Ford "Cars & Coffee" tee shirts. 2 CHP, lights a-blazin, were there to keep the revelers in check. I would say this one doesn't quite have the word of mouth reach yet as some other Cars and Coffee like Morgan Hill or Santa Cruz. They were letting anyone in like a Chevy Nova SS (? at a FORD event!) and a couple of beater BMW325 track cars in freshly adorned primer gray. Maybe it will grow in time. The one thing I didn't like was the trees shedding into my open cockpit (trees in every parking strip) so I sorta bailed after an hour or so. People were nice, as is normal for these type of events, met some new people.
I enjoyed the event. The variety of cars was wonderfully eclectic with many different from the C&C regulars. The Ford staff really were just figuring out how to run a C&C. It was their first one. As enthusiasts, they initiated the idea for a C&C, got a small budget from Ford Corp. and got permission to use the parking lot. They volunteered their time. There definitely was not an Us vs Them attitude regarding Ford vs Ferrari and the staff was excited about anything that showed up. It didn't seem like a corporate event; more just a bunch of enthusiasts having fun. The rain probably cut attendance by one half. I almost didn't come. Their C&C has potential. I hope they do it again.
I was there with my Scud and enjoyed the event. Was low key with decent mix of cars. As mentioned above, this was the first event held by ford and I thought it was fine. From talking to one of the workers, the event was supposed to happen in 2020 then Covid hit. Ford corporate was supposed to be more involved but corporate lost interest since the event was on the back burner for so long. But since they had all the marketing material already created they figured to just host the event and see what happens.
