I havent seen this many Ferrari wrecked in quite a while, 4 or 5 360 Modenas were crashed, including a brand new STradale. At least one of the 360 is now garbage, a 350 that had its front bumper shoved all the way back to its tire Another guy flipped his 360 260 wrecks are one thing but a vintage competition Daytona was also wrecked/ This was the car Paul Newman raced at LeMans. It sounded awesome while it ran. I didnt see the wreck but they say he spun out near Big Bend & hit all 4 corners, Hopefully its not too bad
I hope no-one posts pics. How would you like pics of YOUR wrecked Ferrari posted for the world to see?? Go to rotten.com if you get off on that sort of crap.
Sorry if anyone doesn't want to see these. WILLIAM H - I'm assuming from you avatar that the 3rd pic is your car? I can send you the pics I took if you want. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thats a great photo of my car, Thanks Alan who drives a 355 Challenge said that because the 360 CHallenge shifts for you so well + the downforce the car generates. If any of that fails for even 1/2 second the drivers are in way over their heads & dont know what to do, thus Boom LRP is a highly technical track you need to know how to drive to get a good time & there are several places like the Right hander going on to No Name straight, the top of the hill & the bottom of the hil + Big Bend where a lot of cars have gotten messed up bad
There's Ferrari OWNERS, and then there's Ferrari DRIVERS...... Good to hear all is well with WILLIAM H. That cat did shoot some good ones of your TR........
William: I did not put two and two together on Saturday. Your car sounded great on the practice sessions among all the other 360 and 355. Only yours and the yellow race technologies ALMS 360 stood out from the pack. I was a but surprised to see such a limited number of 360s out on the track for the race, but I did not know so many got damaged (saw the red one on the trailorin the pits). Thanks for putting on a great show and using your Ferrari for its true purpose.
Race cars get raced and ocassionally get bent ... they will be fixed and back again, even the Daytona. Even including the accidents those cars and owners/drivers are having far more fun with their cars than the coffee brigade IMO Pete's opinion
absolutely....BUT WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR WRECKED CAR POSTED ON THE NET???? You may want to discretly fix it and protect its' re-sale value........ You'd certainly be pi55ed off if you were selling it, and the deal was nearly closed, when the purchaser turned up with photos and a "please explain".....
Phil - While I respect your many posts on Fchat, I take serious exception to this one. I think a future owner does have a right to know the detailed history of any car they're considering to purchase. An owner who bends some metal on the track is an enthusiast -- a class of driver who I hope has the integrity to disclose the car's history. (1) Putting the car on a track and NOT telling a future owner is misleading. (2) Bending significant metal/frame components on the track and NOT telling a future owner is probably bordering on illegal. I'm not trying to flame here... I just think your post was suggesting that the owners of those bent cars would like to "quietly" put them together and sell to new owners without explanation. I simply don't think that's "right". -Daniel
Full disclosure: This is what much of my car looked like ... a few years before it was built. Of course, there's been some "value added" since then. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My silver race car was a sad forgotten wreck in a yard of wrecked Ferraris when I bough it 3 or 4 years ago. If I ever smak her I will fix her again. Now that Modena with the front bumper where the front tire is may be garbage because the 360 has an aluminum monocoque which cant be fixed like the steel tube chassis of my TR or the wrecked Daytona
It might be worth adding a couple of facts here. First, the #67 Challenge car will quite likely be repaired. I've seen worse damage -- and I'll admit it looks pretty bad -- in crashed Challenge cars which were rebuilt, and I suspect it will be ready for the next Challenge race. (Phil, I suspect you've seen the same sort of "cars destroyed" which were immediately rebuilt. Of course, one or two of these have also made good donors for Michelotto!) Second, the Daytona was wide at the start into Turn One, and got two wheels off in the marbles and such. He spun on the grass, and hit the guardrail with one side of the car. It could have been repaired that night for Saturday, and in professional racing would have been. This was historic racing for fun; the crew and driver all went out for a nice dinner. Third, these are race cars, if of different types. My own feeling is that anyone who buys a race car and believes that it has never been wrecked is taking a chance. Some haven't; most have over their careers. A properly rebuilt race car is every bit the equal of an uncrashed one in mechanical terms, if not in value.
yeah, you would be pissed because you were caught in a lie and committing a fraud if you said "never been in a crash"
Oh yes.. and do not get me started about how much $$$ i wasted in PPI'ing "great examples" in "perfect condition".
I was driving the real 360GT red 07, The yellow car was a partially converted Challenge car that is close to the set up of the 2005 Grand-am GTnew rules. The Grand-am decided to run only 1 GT class so the SGS cars will be upgraded and the GT s downgraded. The real 360 GTs will need to downgrade the following: Narrow front body, narrow rear wing, 4 pot brakes change motr to a unrestricted stock Challenge motor. A challenge car like the yellow one only needs a rear wing to be eligible to run but much more to be competitive. Also does anyone have a good pic of the 07 360GT at speed?
