    Hi
So I have a 488 spider, great car, I’m super happy with it and although I’ve had a 458 before with its amazing sound and still think the added power and great sound in the 488 is comparable.

So what I would like to get is a higher level tone, the oem tone is beautiful but just not loud enough for me.

so I’m thinking to keep the oem exhaust and change the car back exhaust to a 200 cell catalyst converter from FI exhaust.

    my questions are
Would I get a considerable louder sound ?
Would I get any cell check engjne light ?

anyone went that route, change only the catalyst converter?

    thanks guys.

How’s the sound difference ? And I think there is an obd solution and oxygen sensors as well to deal with the cell.

You will get a CEL because the O2 sensors are aft of the cats but before the exhaust, so its only the cats that affect the measurement. You can clear the CEL with an OBD reader, or buy the capristo wizard .. I can’t vouch for the capristo wizard. But if you are not changing the exhaust you are unlikely to get the sound improvement you are after. i tried many combinations a few years ago. TBH I forget most of the details now, suffice to say the OEM exhaust is back on the car

You may get a louder volume, but the sound quality and pitch will be the same. you will never be able to get the 458 wail from a 488. The turbo muffles the sound.
It bothered me a lot at first when I went from a 458 to a 488, but I got used to it, and I'm ok with the 488 sound now. I'm able to appreciate all the other benefits, and I actually like the sound of the 488 better when I'm under 5,000 RPM's. It just sounds meaner and tougher.

I had a 360 spider with the Capristo racing level 3 exhaust. All stock otherwise. Sounded great! I now have a 488 spider with the Capristo exhaust valve controller. I bought the car with it already installed. With the valves open, I'm pretty happy with the sound so far...maybe getting older I guess. There are lots of threads here talking about exhaust options for the 488.

I have the Novitec exhaust paired with Fabspeed charge pipes and sport cats (Fabspeed Ferrari 488 GTB/Spider Sport Cats (2016+) - Fabspeed Motorsport). Could not be happier with both the overall exhaust sound and the louder turbo spooling whine that resulted. No CEL, no issues whatsoever. Highly recommend
