    and air pump was removed since my 1981 308 GTSi does not need to be smogged anymore. What advantage did I gain? I bought the car without them and also the panel in the trunk covering the lights. How much weight did I lose? Gain in mpg?

    pretty much zero in mpg/hp gain. Really.

    Agreed with the above. What you have gained is fewer parts to damage the car. The air pumps sometimes seize (never good, considering they're powered off the camshaft), and the cat can catch fire if you have a single-bank ignition failure.
