    and there just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason whatsoever to this, does there ?

    No Brett, and no prior warning at all. It can happen at 120 km/ph on the highway, at 45 km/ph exiting a corner, or at 10 km/ph exiting a fuel station in first gear as mine did. Bang and a big puddle of oil under the car.
