So who’s stumping up the money to put their car on the lawn to have it judged by this: https://instagram.com/justin.tse?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Just think of the selling descriptions in years to come… Massini is quoted as saying but Justin Tse says this… Paul
Yeah I ponied up…. Been working on my car and cleaning up a few little things for judging. I scored 91 points last year without attending to anything.
In fairness he is an honorary judge, which is really to say he is there as an attraction, not to judge cars. I have judged there many times and they do not really play a role in the judging. It does however speak to what demographic the event organizers are looking to attract.
its about internet exposure. he will probably help judge something like “glossiest paint” or “cutest license plate”.
A little bird tells me that no fewer than 3 (three) "major international influencers" have been invited to the event........... Marcel Massini
It’s a constant sad depreciation of what was once upheld as the pinnacle of Ferrari judging; I’m not even sure this is even judging…it’s like asking a 3 year old to pick your favourite colour… Is the current demographic of owner so empty and lacking the knowledge of what Ferrari was many years ago to think this w4nky award has any credence?
This makes me seriously question how long Cavallino awards will continue to be a contributory consideration for "The Best of The Best" award?

Here's a more complete judges list: Savina Confaloni, anchorwoman. Natalie LaFevre - digital expert, ocean conservationist and travel/sustainability journalist. Plus Justin Tse - 25 year old entrepreneur in technology, lifestyle, and home content creator. I wonder if Greta is coming as well? Marcel Massini
I was just wondering about that. I’d be surprised if it changed any time soon. I just don’t get what is gained by having minor “celebrities” who have no apparent connection to Ferrari.
I’m not on Instagram and I have no idea how to navigate it but when I clicked on that link I saw two pictures of………Mercedes.
I am pretty sure old Enzo would have preferred beautiful young ladies admiring the beauty of his creations over old dogged judges preferring little details only they care about... (No pun intended!)
That much is true, he would have enjoyed a concours in 1950's Rimini with beauty queens much more than Pebble etc.
Taking sand to the beach. Its not like the organizer has to hire women for the event. There is never a shortage.
Well on the one hand, there is good reason to get younger people involved in ‘our scene’. We don’t want it to die with us. On the other hand, are these influencers and those they influence, the younger people we want to attract ?
Younger people involved.......... remember the old adage " Ferrari designs and builds cars for young men that can't afford them" Gary Bobileff
Geez, Dale. I guess if FASB doesn't cover it, you really are in the dark. Okay, a few things.. Most of the time when you hear the term, people are talking about certain people on social media. They may have e large group of followers and be perceived as someone who is a trendsetter, or a trustworthy guide or source of information about [whatever subject, or aspect of life or (oftentimes pop) culture]. Some areas might be; fashion, beauty, health, life coach, foodie/chef, music, I'm sure there are many others. In addition to social media, YouTubers- someone who has their own youtube channel that is popular for their niche- could be an influencer as well. Oftentimes the word influencer is used as a pejorative term. Some of the people let the fame or popularity go to their head. Of course you will find news stories of people asking for something for free or wanting to cut line, etc. because 'they are who they are'. As I type this I'm reminded of someone (no longer with us) held in very high esteem by those of us in Fchat Vintage. I was helping a restorer friend of 19 oughts and 19 teens sports and race cars in LA in the summer of 2001. As I was picking up parts for him in Van Nuys, my jaw dropped when the shop owner explained that 'Xxxx Xxxx' wanted the work on his Locomobile manifold done for free because, 'I'm so and so'. So to say, while young influencers are often skewered in the media, they're not the only famous people (or age group) who behave in a way the rest of us wouldn't. Finally, LET"S NOT LOSE FOCUS. I think the real subject of this thread is how crap a job the new owners are doing with their media property and its' adjoining Concours. A real shame.
