Looking closer at that picture, it would appear your left hand is pulling her away from Jerry as your right hand is pushing him away. So, was that subconcious response to Jerry's "closeness"??

    ;)

    James,

A P2 should have the clutch behind the gearbox -- the clutch wasn't moved until 1966 and the P3s. I've never paid attention to Sachs' setup, but I would think that it is the early arrangement. Some of these cars had quite a few changes as they became P2/3s, etc. -- Piper's and NART's in particular were bastardized.

I've always wondered how that worked and why it was done. How does a clutch behind the box decouple the engine from the box?

You can actually see how my hand was massaging Martin's neck, and he is smiling. So maybe Marion should be jealous of me & Martin! LOL!! My dad was almost passed out I think...look at his eyes.

No, both of them (the blue GTO and the #64 Daytona) belong to a FoW customer -- not to FoW. The same customer formerly owned the 250 LM, 212 Inter, and 333 SP. The same owner has a 512 S which encountered problems at Cavallino.

500 TRC -- the 1957 version of the 500 TR (informally called the "high body") to new Appendix C specs. Lower body, etc. Many people feel that the 500 TRC is one of, if not THE, most attractive racing Ferrari ever. As a former TRC owner I'm probably biased, but I would agree.

    James --

I've never seen a diagram of the P/P2 flywheel/gearbox assembly, but it probably used some sort of through-shaft from the flywheel, possibly the mainshaft. It does make a very nice compact package, and makes the clutch easy to change. On the other hand, in the late 1960s in Austin, Texas, at an SCCA race I saw a driver in a 330 P (0820) bobble his start from the front row, and get whacked smartly up the back by a Shelby Mustang. Destroyed the clutch assembly....

    How many GTO's were present???
I remember a few years ago Ralph Lauren had 2 of his 3 250 GTO's present--1 naked, with no paint to show how it looked before restoration.

This board limits the size of the image I can upload to 200k. All of my shots are 1.5mb or larger. If you'd like I can burn a CD with the images in high resolution for you. Send me a PM with your address and I'll dump all my shots to CD and out to you.

I counted 3, the Red and Blue where tracked, with the Red even competing in the Historic Disc brake challenge race. The third, a Silver GTO showed up at the Breakers on Saturday.

That's interesting about the rear ending. Maybe one shaft runs through the clutch to the back plate and the front plate is connected to the box via a tube that runs concentricly outside the shaft and is connected via flanges. If you ever come accross a diagram please show it to me.

Does anyone know who brought 0502m (see show 7) to Cavallino? And which plate was fitted to this car?

    Thanks

I happen to get a photo of the (#37) 365 P2's clutch/gearbox at the track.
