Hello and good day to all,

I was just curious to know if there are any plans at the moment for any of the local car clubs/dealers in FTL, MIA or WPB to have any gatherings during Cavallino weekend?

I will be flying in from Chicago and I just wanted to get an idea of gatherings that may be taking place. Thought it would be a good opportunity to meet new people. I know some folks from this board have had cookouts and things like that in the past.

If anyone has the scoop on any events please pass that along. Thanks in advance!

Generally speaking most of us go to the Friday track day, and the concours Saturday at the Breakers. I have hosted a dinner Friday night for the past three years, but I think I am going to skip that this year. There is a decent BBQ place that is more or less on the way back from the track if a group wants to meet up for dinner after the track on Friday. Also, there is usually a mid-Atlantic gathering at a local bar on the intracoastal usually on Thursday night. Lashdeep usually organizes this. Daniel from Ricambi has hosted a cocktail party on Palm Beach in the past, don't know if he is doing that again. Also, we have met for breakfast at a few different locations prior to going to the Breakers on Saturday. We used to go to a restaurant on Saturday that was walking distance from the breakers for lunch (Paulie_B organized this), but too many people complained about the service, so we stopped doing that.

I usually grab a sub at a local market for my lunch on track day. I would be glad to grab one for you also, and bring some drinks to enjoy as the vintage cars tear up the track. Let me know when the date gets closer.

Bill good morning, WOW! that is awfully nice of you to offer, you give hospitality a whole new meaning. I may just take you up on that offer.

This will be my second time going to Cavallino, last year I was there with my wife, and so I had my hands full LOL. But this year I'm going solo and am scrambling for things to do. I'll be attending the jet reception, the track days and the concours, but other than that I'm just wondering what else there is to do around the area.

I had thought about driving down to MIA to check out the Ferrari Store and also check out FMFL and The Swap Shop. It's too bad the supercar weekend is not held on the same weekend anymore, that would have been a blast.

Well, I will be sure to shoot you a PM as the time draws near and see about that sub :), hopefully other fellas will chime in with suggestions on this thread. Take care and thanks for replying!

I think there is also a free lecture on Thursday morning at the Breakers that will give you some great expert info and a deep knowledge of a few specific vintage cars. Go to www.tomyang.net when the time gets close to see what the scoop is. Buying a sub is not a big deal. The dinner we have hosted on Friday nights wasn't too bad either, but we are currently underemployed, so the $500 or so will be saved on that one.

The Jet reception is great, you will really like it. The food stinks there, but the cars are pretty awesome. My favorite is the track day on Friday. Seeing the vintage cars race is most entertaining. Shoot me a PM when the time gets close, we can meet up for lunch or something.

Question, the rumors are that the track, whatever it is called now, is in bankruptcy, or going there.

    Will this affect track day??

The track has been having "financial difficulties" for some time, but I am not aware of impending bankruptcy. I will be out there 2x in the next 4 weeks with a couple of different groups and will report back if there is any "news" or "scuttlebutt" of impending financial collapse.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Any word on if the Supercar Experience (formerly Supercar Weekend) will be on the same day as Cavallino like it was in previous years?

Last year the supercar weekend was moved to late February IIRC.
Don't know the schedule this year.

Supercar Experience will be in Feb I think, on the other hand...if you call the number on their website it states that it has been disconnected. It may be that the show is no longer running?? They were supposed to have a show in New Orleans in May and one in the Hamptons in September, never heard anything about those shows...not sure if they were cancelled...anyone know the fate of SCX?
