I go back and forth to SouthAmerica and have done a few off roads excursions(prior to hiking up there) on dirt roads way up in the Andes (16K-feet) and I can see the use of a real 4x4, I rented Toyota, Nissan and they delivered in the mud and high altitude, once a friend let me borrow a hyundai that thing look cool and mighty but that was all it had, it lost power in the altitude their 4x4 was a joke we had a hard time getting it out of the mud ... so how good is a Cayenne in such an environment??? I see if doesn't have the extra set of gears you get on a real 4x4. Has anybody tried it??? I could get a decent deal on a diesel but not sure if it actually gets it done.

I have a Cayenne S and it has been brilliant both in and off road.
