Have decided to order an '11 Cayenne Turbo, assuming the specs are right. The rennlist Cayenne threads about Cayenne reliability scared me a bit; I also looked hard at the GL, but, critically, my wife prefers the Cayenne. Car would be used on occasional long trips, for towing three or four times a year (enclosed trailer w/street car inside) and otherwise in light, infrequent in town use.

    Thoughts?

I would worry more about the reliability of the GL than the Cayenne.

in terms of size the Chayenne is more comparable to the ML. In fact the ML actually bigger. The GL has an available 3rd row seat which is a joke for anything but small people.
Also is the weight of the trailer you intend pull w/ in the P's limits???

Agree with you on the ML/Cayenne comparison. The Cayenne S and above have surprising tow capacities - without checking, mid 7000s comes to mind. I will tow a 22' aluminum enclosed trailer plus a race car, maybe 3000 lbs. Little in the way of spares and tools.

Edit: 7716 lbs, impressive for the size of the vehicle.

i have an '04 tt cayenne and an '08 tt.
i have 55K miles on the '04 and 12K miles on the '08.
both have been fantastic vehicles. the only problem is resale.
the cars will go forever and i have no intention of ever selling them!

to be more specific the i should have wrote ML 63 AMG vs the TT. Also, check me on this but it seems to me that more a car is geared toward performance like TT, AMG etc the LESS it can tow. I guess it has to do w/ suspension and wheel/tires?
