While I'd want to see them in person before finalizing my opinion, I think the 987 Cayman looks better.

The front has 918 in it, when you compare between the two. Other than the fact that it looks "thicker" than my 987, I like it and my wife as well. I really want to see one in person. I thought the new Boxster looked chunky, but I love it in the flesh.

Looks more muscular and wider. I probably won't see one till the San Diego Auto Show next month, but I may order one anyway for the spring.

Looks great in gray. I may have to git me one. I checked the Porsche website configurator. They have gone gung ho with the options. It is very easy to add 20K or more.

Looks like if you want silver you have to go for the $2580 GT Silver premium paint.

That seems steep, when you consider that for $2995 you could have had silver paint plus an entire Porsche at no extra charge in the '50s.

    Yellow's looking good, though.

I noticed that. Since silver is the most popular Porsche color, maybe they want to cash in?

Wonder if Ferrari will start charging extra for Rossa Corsa?

From the pics I have seen, light colors obscure the lines and design details. May well be different in person. I noticed the gray car seemed to make the creases really pop.

One thing folks are talking about who saw the 981 at the LA show... the new trunk is deeper but the engine hump is higher... looks like it won't handle long items the way it use to.

Also, the attachment points are gone for the roof rack? I know there's a new roof rack system on the 991... wonder if the Cayman gets it also?

Quote- "My thought is it is like the entire interior of the Cayman moved downwards with respect to the frame/engine/suspension of the car so what that seems to create to me is a deeper trunk in the back but less space above the engine cover. My wife remarked that she didn't think she could get the same flat artwork paintings in the back of the new Cayman because there was less room above the engine cover, despite having a deeper rear storage "trunk" area. So I think it depends on what you need to haul. Golf club bag with wheels well maybe the wheels go down in the trunk area better than before, but maybe the bag laying on top of the engine cover is a tighter fit for the hatch to close on top of it. You'd have to measure and see for yourself, but yes the storage is different than before. Overall volume is probably increased, but the usability of the space has changed somewhat"

I would be seriously shocked if there were no roof rack options.

Totally agree. Saw it Tuesday at the LA Auto show. This car is a winner. The spider did not do it for me but the coupe looked outstanding.

    On the other hand:

My goodness has the 911 GROWN!!!! It's freakin' huge! Is this the Oprah edition? :)
