Yes, this was old news from last year.

He and family owns (owned) a bunch of different steel manufacturing companies in Windsor.. still involved in the business as his investment company owns some of our customers/clients in southern Ontario.

Won't go into detail but he owns many top tier exotics as you can deduct from that article.

 

And we see his SuperYacht down here all the time in the Bahamas.

Sad story. In 2010, the crew off his yacht were drinking at an out island bar - Staniel Cay Yacht Club.

They left the bar close to midnight in the three engined tender and rocketed across the bay towards the mothership "Man-Of-Steel" which they could see the mast lights in the distance. Problem was, there was a deserted island (Big Majors) in the way. They hit the tip of he island at full speed. All but one of the crew ere ejected onto the razor coral about 6 feet in the air.

A friend of mine heard the faint radio call for help form the crew member still in the tender just as he was turning in for the night. He put together the search party, called for assistance and headed out in the pitch black. He found them sprawled all over the rocks. Like a scene from Dexter - blood and body party everywhere. Two crew had broken backs and others had many broken bones. It took hours to medivac them all out from this remote location i the morning. Where this happened is a night time no-fly zone under US DEA control.

Nobody would say who was driving the tender, so the owner fired them all and flew in a new crew.

According to the Yachting Times.. he has both a 121' Heeson for the lakes, and the 165' for the oceans. Thats probably $100 million of floating steel...Wow !

 

And depreciating faster than a new GM Equinox being driven off the lot.

It used to be in the mid 2000s (before the collapse), if you put down a deposit in a SuperYacht, and you could make better than Madoff returns by selling the yard delivery slot - no more.

Ironically, down where Man-of-Steel hangs out, it's only middle of the pack sized.

 

Back in the 80s I acquired his Ferrari 328 GTS(series 3 with ABS last CDN 328?) - gracious host and a pleasure to deal with.
