Got my 07 430 after complete service, and after having it 2 weeks it threw up a CEL light. Called dealer they told me it was misfire codes for the cylinders, just to clear them and see if they come back. Cleared them, drove the car several time for total of about 100mi(snow days and all)and CEL did not come back until today. Checked the codes, again 12 codes - all misfires P0300s, and P1141 which is fuel delivery? I think. I cleared the codes, and on startup CEL went away. Any ideas would help.

Unfortunately ferrari throws so many errant codes you never know when there is a real problem and most people end up ignoring them eventually which defeats the purpose of a check engine light.

Malfunction discription: A rich air fuel mixture ratio was detected

    Malfunction type: Rich fuel value

Diagnostics: Delete the values self-learned by the ECU. Check of
the additional air circuit connections. Check the fuel
pressure Check whether the exhaust gas emissions are
within the accepted limits.(engine at steady rpm with
    sensors disconnected HC<250ppm CO<1,1%) (see
    manual)

So I figure - No big deal!

OK so its giving you two error codes, a misfire and a rich fuel condition. One of two things could be happening.. 1) the wiring loom could have bad connections in it, 2) the injectors are staying open a tad too long and putting to much fuel into the mix and its not igniting.. or 2) your coil or coil(s) are on the way out.

I would personally go with number 2.

Why you should get this fixed, i.e. replace the coil(s) on the left hand bank. Versus just reset the code and ignore it. Fuel normally burns in the cylinder. When the fuel doesn't burn in the cylinder.. its going to burn in the header or the cat. Not good when this happens, it heats it up too hot when not designed to do so. BTW the only sensors for fuel air mix are the O2 sensors in the exhaust. Thats what's telling the ECU what it thinks the problem is.

What I would do is first reset the connections at the coils. Then if that didn't work, pull the plugs on the offending bank and look at them. Any darker color on one or the other? This would suggest the rich condition they refer... and replace the coil above this plug.

Ignorance is bliss... but very expensive in the end.

So just pull the coils and re seat them 1st? Or should I just get the plugs out and take a look at them anyway?

Since I never worked on 430 how is it to getting to plugs?

There is a TSB (#274) regarding coil vent covers that can leak and plugs can get corroded. My car had this update done April, 2008. Four plugs were found to have some corrosion though there were never any misfire CELs.

If you are consistently getting misfires in specific cylinders I would swap those ignition coils with ones where you don't get misfire codes and see if the misfire codes move with the ignition coils. Looks like up until sometime 2007 the 430 used different coils between left and right, but all the same afterwards...

If you have misfires, couldn't that result in unburnt fuel which could be setting of the rich code?

Two 10mm bolts hold the ignition coil on the plug. Unplug the coil,Remove the two, don't drop them, and pull the coil off the plug. Monkey can do it. Swap if our like to check with other side (does the error then switch sides?).
