First of all no I'm not asking the same question about codes, I've searched on here and found the details regarding the codes I'm getting. Rather my question is whether or not the dealer can get "factory codes" beyond what you get with a standard OBDII reader. The dealer told me that they can get "factory codes" which provide them more information than what I get from my OBDII reader. Is this true or are they just trying to get money for service? I have money set aside for repairs and maintenance and it's coming up on winter so I'd really like to know the real story behind the codes so I can do whatever is needed over the winter months and have her all set to go for spring.

I do believe that is true. Your generic OBD2 code reader will tell you about Emission related codes starting with 0, and factory specific code starting with 1, and any other code that is read via the OBD2 port through the emission ECU computer.

There are other computers on the car that supply other codes like ABS code, airbag code, spider top code, suspension code, F1 codes, then the OBD2 reader will not read them via the OBD2 port.
