I recently purchased a 2004 360 Spyder from dealer. After second drive, CEL illuminated. I purchased OBD II scanner (Autel) that recognizes car but gave no codes. I spoke with mechanic. He suggested turning off battery which did reset light. Light came on again after brief drive. Again no error codes on scanner. Battery reset turned off light. After several start/stop cycles of engine, light came on again.

    Gas cap is very tight.

Any thoughts? I live in Kentucky. 360 miles from nearest dealer.

Look at the inside of the gas cap and be sure that the rubber gasket is still intact and that an errant mis-thread hasn't left it stripped or falling out. In some cases, it may be missing all together. If so, the CEL will come on even though the gas cap is on tightly.

In the end, CEL means a trip to the dealer. If the gas cap isn't the issue, you are probably just going to have to suck it up and make the trip.

Be patient. I recently went through the same thing. It will get worked out. But you are likely going to have to get the dealer involved.

    Good luck brother!

Your scanner will only read the right bank. The left bank has a seperate engine management system. The error is probably on that side.

Do you have a suggestion for a scanner?
