Have a new to me 08 f430 wth 16k miles... as got to the smog place in Calif, the cel cones on... go figure..... anyway, I reset it and it was something to do with emissions....
The light came back on when that gas tank level hit half mark... coincidence? Idk...
Anyway, it could be a gas cap rubber seal.... do they just sell the rubber gasket for the gas cap ??
    Please advise,
    James R

Classic new owner issue is to have an evaporative leak - which means cap not tight enough after refilling - it could be something else but start here

I think the gas vapor expands so moving into the sun (for example) could cause trigger even if not full

I believe there are several causes for this, the gas cap being one.
I had the same problem for a couple years before the shop could find the cause.
Turned out to be a combo of gas cap and the roll-over valves.

oh ok.... roll-over valves ?? what are those ?
also, do they just sell the red rubber gasket for the cap? I mean, I thought I am closing the cap correctly... someone suggested I get a new gasket...

I realize that there is actually more gas pressure , thus leak, when the gas level is low... vs. when full...

thanks for the info so far guys.... love the car but don't want CEL light on... lol\

Suggest you call Ricambi as I don’t see a separate listing for the cap seal.
I do know that mine was replaced, and I did not have to buy a new metal cap.

Valves are on top of the fuel pumps.
They are made of a plastic compound and will crack with age.
I’ll see if I can post a picture of one.

I gotta ask, battery is fully charged?
Just saying because I wasted a couple hundred bucks getting a CEL checked out that turned out to be related to a low battery (even though car started/ran fine).
