I got P0410 this morning - Secondary Air Injection System...
A search on the forums dictated looking for a blown fuse - question: where is the fuse? I could go through the entire fuse box in the engine, but would REALLY prefer if someone pointed me in the right direction.

    Thanks!

I had this code once. It was a hole in the air hose above the headers. It is connected to a valve. A small hole is all it takes. You may have to remove the hose for a better inspection. Mine was just rotten out do to heat and age. A simple fix.

Passenger foot well. Check the one for air injection pump. It is a 15amp fuse, and known issue that they should be a 20amp. The dealers all install 20amp, and it will never blow again. Good luck.

What if it does blow again after changing it to a 20 amp? In searching I came up with this thread:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104117&highlight=p0410

Brian Crall says to just replace it with a 30amp. Has anyone done that? Any danger in trying that? Can anyone lay out the technical reason for the fuse blowing? Is the airpump motor getting old and drawing more power to run or something else?

Brian is WAY smarter than I am on this stuff, but I was always told to never go up. I could see maybe going from 15-20, but to go to 30 would make me a little nervous. I have seen the fuse box melt on a couple of 355s under that fuse. I think Helms has a fuse block to help with this.

Exactly what I was thinking. Brian is way smarter than myself on this stuff but I would be very nervous putting a 30amp in there without knowing exactly what the cause of the problem is and hearing others first hand experience with such a "fix".

Clean the road debris and gravel out of the gauze filter and the impeller, that is causing the motor to bind up, replace the fuse and go on your way. Its part of a REAL major service but often needs to be done in between services.... 90% are Never done.

What he said ^^^ ............... :) .............. also make sure the the gauze filter is intact and in place ......... that little blower motor can suck in a lot of bad things, if the filter has migrated out of place.

Thank you Dave! Your help here in invaluable. Whenever I hear about "fixes" to problems without addressing the cause of the problem it makes me think of what Dave Helms would say. Fix the cause of the problem rather than treating the symptom.

What I say falls on deaf ears these days so I no longer waste my time flapping my fingers on a key board. It is a shame when I sit back and watch History repeat itself. When it gets bad enough and these cars are thrown out like dirty bath water.... maybe then owners will listen.

It's the air pump motor. Lower right side rear of engine behind right side rear wheel. It's where that whining noise comes from that you hear when you start your car up when cold. There is an air filter element that gets filthy as it is rarely serviced. Also check all your air lines and see if any holes. This is an old thread I'm still subscribed to even though I no longer have my 355. But I remember about this issue.

That's it! See if the fuse is blown too. It should be whining when you start it up first time when cold. If not...change fuse. Clean filter first!
