I have been taking apart my interior to get it redone, and have come across an issue: My Fog Lamp Switch (171074) is broken - the fog lamps didn't work on the PPI and I assumed it was a bulb/fuse/relay issue, but it turns out the switch is broken... I cannot find a new one on any of the usual sites... Are any of the other switches 'compatible' - eg: the rear-view fog lamp and/or mirror defog switch? I can change the symbol, but do the switches work the same? Or anyone know where I can get another fog lamp switch? Thanks
Did you know that you need the sidelights on to be able to turn on the front fogs? If you're not worried about the symbol/logo, you could use another type of fog light switch. They are the same internally. Or have someone swap the old switch symbol to a similar switch, such as the suspension switch.
The switch is definitely broken - it’s supposed to be an on/off switch, but the top switch part is loose and won’t stay down in the ‘on’ position … the little black moving switch piece moves back and forth freely …

$500+!! Dang!! so apparently the top part of the switch should have a spring / plastic pieces to get the switch to latch … and I’m missing those pieces … probably an old repair job ! Does anyone have pics of the internal mechanism / setup of the switch?
That is the plan if I cant get the parts to fix the switch! Also - need to make sure that all the switches are the same 'circuit board' wise...
I've never seen the springs and tiny plastic dogs for sale separately, presumably because the switch bodies don't really break, but plenty of people lose the springs and dogs when doing DIY repairs. I would ask Dave Rocks if he can sell some to you, but if not, I would buy the cheapest, most beaten up switch you can find on eBay (it doesn't even have to be the latching type) and use the parts from that to repair your switch.
Similar question on the square switches - how to remove the top button (square button) part without breaking something inside? I don't see how the top switch is put together so don't want to break anything inside if its not a simple pull up and out? (Talking about the Parking Light / Fuel Door / Hazard light switch) Thanks!
