So I got four new center wheel caps and now have already lost one within a few months. Three seemed quite snug. One seemed loose so I put some gorilla glue on it at installation. The gorilla glue cap has not come off. I lost one of the ones that originally seemed snug at installation.

I have ordered a replacement cap. Besides gorilla glue any advice for ensuring I don't lose this cap again?

Are you sure it wasn't stolen?

There shouldn't really be much outward force on them. That said, as I reported in another thread, the fit on aftermarket wheels tends to be anywhere between acceptable to terrible. They should fit utterly perfect on original wheels though. I wouldn't trust glue more than simple gravity and friction... if they aren't fitting they aren't fitting. My 2 cents.

Man, when I saw Gorilla Glue I cringed. It'll hold I suppose, but it very well might pull paint of the wheel if ever removed. Hope not, but before you go to remove it, if ever, I'd prophylactically apply something to weaken the glue before carefully removing the cap.

You can wrap a turn of bicycle handlebar cork tape around the "fingers" of the centercap, then carefully insert it for a tight fit. Alternately, you could use a couple of turns of electric tape. Don't pull it too tight, or use too much, so as to only make the part fit snugly - avoid bending or cracking the fingers.

This assumes a cap such as these from Ricambi.

Wow, stolen is a possibility I just hadn't considered. And, yeah, the gorilla glue was a bit heavy handed but since the original caps had been on for 35 years I was taking a long term outlook with these new ones :). I had just painted the wheels myself which is why I got the new caps. Thanks, Jonathan for the suggestion of tape.
