I am a first time buyer and interested in a certified preowned 488 spider at Ferrari of Miami. I live in Las Vegas but my local dealer does not have the spec that I want.

I studied the photos and listing details of the car in Miami and everything looks good. I also read that if it is certified preowned by Ferrari that it has to go through strict inspections.

This may be a crazy question but is it safe to negotiate / buy remotely or should I definitely fly over to do an in person viewing / inspection?

Also, is there any wiggle room in asking price for preowned? I know everyone pays sticker on new.

    Thanks for any advice!

A plane ticket is really cheap vs. buying a car unseen from a Florida dealer certified pre-owned or not. YMMV.

I bought my 458 unseen from an official Ferrari dealer. It was a Ferrari Approved car. They gave me all assurances the car was in mint condition and if by any chance something came up, they’d fix it for free. It did the trick for me but truth be told, a PPI *never* hurts in any circumstance. Worst case scenario it’s redundant, and you keep your piece of mind at a 100% level.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

No question; fly to Miami to check it out in person and arrange for an independent to perform a PPI while you're there. And yes, you can negotiate on the asking price.

The PPI in Miami is also a great excuse to go have fun on Ocean Dr :D

Every car I buy, I like to open every door/hatch and floor it... the latter may be hard to do safely in a Ferrari in the city, but I ultimately want to get my hands on it before I spend the money. That being said, I trust Ferrari's CPO program

Weren't there a few threads about the Ferrari CPO missing some things and then being a challenge to work with once the check cleared?

Do you make a practice of trusting things that you have no direct personal experience with, Jack???

Well when I logically use my brain, I see the repercussions of Ferrari's failure to adequately deliver on their 'Certification' as a huge incentive to produce a quality car. Imagine if someone bought a CPO ferrari, had an issue and then posted here- it would be a PR nightmare!

I've never driven a LaFerrari, but I trust it is very fast :D

If that is the case, then this user should use the threads when negotiating the price (and checking their CPO work) :D

    Links?

    Uh huh.
All CPO cars are just used cars. Caveat emptor.
Here is a LaFerrari that didn't start or run when it was delivered new to Penske-Wynn Ferrari. I speak from personal experience.

Well I appreciate you finally contributing useful information instead of just being a troll LMAO

Even though you have displayed very poor character and have no evidence besides a photo, I still trust your personal experience :D

There are dealers and there are dealers.
Weren't there some questions about a couple of Florida "dealers", a while back?

I'm sure the cars are represented properly the majority of the time, but I ain't that brave when I buy a car. At a minimum, I would have someone I trust to go over the car and drive it before I send funds. Nothing beats seeing and driving the car in person. A distance car sale can be very hard to unwind if things go bad.
