I got an email last week showing replacement F12 CF aerobridges available from the dealer. Has anyone seen these, or has them? Just wondering how they look in person. My car is Silverstone/Nero. Can't decide if it is a cool detail, or a distraction from the cohesive look of the front of the car. BTW, I've had the car a little over a year now, and it just turned 10K miles as my DD. The F12 lives up to the hype. Best car I've ever owned.
I just ordered them. Probably be a couple of weeks before they are in. I'll,post some pics after they are installed.
Would be nice if you could weigh them and the ones they replace. I'd love to see what the weight saving would be.
You could mock it up with some black construction paper taped on and stand back a bit. Visible CF aero bridges might work on a black car...not so sure about any other color.
The carbon fiber is visible. They make 2 versions from what I was told. One that needs to be painted and one that is visable and finished with Ferrari 1x1 weave. Here is the only picture they had. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is a picture. I haven't seen it in person yet but decided to go with the CF shields even though it was a very tough decision. I hate to give up the original badges but the yellow made it a bit too busy in my opinion. The one nice thing I was surprised to find out was the bottom portion is matte CF and top is standard gloss. I'll send some more pics when I get her back. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is from Ferrari web-site of the carbon one. http://auto.ferrari.com/en_EN/ferrari-genuine/ferrari-genuine-newsletter-f12berlinetta-march-2015/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
They had a red car with it on at my local dealer, I thought it looked out of place on red car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They were around $11k and the install is pretty time consuming from what I am being told. They need to take the doors off to get to the aero bridges. The ones on the red car supposedly are aluminum and CF. That option as far as I know comes unpainted on the aluminum. It was a little unnerving ordering these without seeing a photo but I wanted something in carbon fiber on the side of the car as I have it on the front and back and wanted to keep the flow. Didn't really want to do the mirrors so I was thinking of doing the side skirts. The dealership said that these had just come out so I thought I would give it a shot. It's hard to tell how everything flows without the front wheels and the doors from the pic. Hopefully it all comes together when it's done. Coming from a 459 Spider and I absolutely love this car =]
Saw it in person today. Looks awesome! So much better in person. This is a pic the tech took when he had it down as it was on the lift when I showed up. Still waiting on the CF wheel caps but I am really happy with how it turned out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Kenyon. I definitely agree it has to be the right car for these to work. I have the darker Novitec wheels and the contrasting kind of theme going on with the CF and matte xpel but it was still a little nerve wracking trying to visualize before actually seeing it. I wasn't sure if it would work or ruin the look. But when I walked around the corner and saw it I was really, really happy =] I'll get some better photos posted when it's done and I actually get it back.
Looks cool, and probably even better in person where the CF texture shows some detail. I may do the same in the Spring. The price I got from the dealer was the same--it is a bigger job than one might guess I've been told. Compared to the legendary cost of the CF cupholders, this seems more understandable. Thanks for sharing. Please post some more shots when you have time.
Thanks 33. They do look a lot better in person. Here are a few more. Sorry for one at a time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
