So? Fiberglass was invented in 1938. Took a while before either became common.

I get using it to replace steel for structural things, to reduce the weight of the car. But instrument clusters? Shift nobs? "Accent" trim pieces? I just don't get that - none of you would rip out those factory pieces and replace them with fiberglass, would you? "Oh, it's cool because it's "space age" and "lightweight" and "racing inspired!" Fiberglass is the wave of the future, man!" Get hip!

When they first starting coming out with fiberglass-bodied cars, was there a similar craze? Did people stick bits of unpainted fiberglass all over their cars?

I bought one in Monterrey during the Italian Concourso, awesome quality - It was a 5 speed for the Testarossa.

I have the factory 550 Barchetta one, along with the cf steering wheel. They look cool in the sunshine. They came with the car. I would not have paid the dear price that the prior owner forked out. I would consider other cf components as interior pieces become sticky. Fortunately, my knobs, dials and plates are doing fine. The shift knob has a horsey on it, not the shift pattern. You will need a superior memory if you decide to install it. Pretty dangerous pulling out the owner's manual in between shifts, otherwise.
