I have a 1990 348 and I am replacing the chain tensioners. The old tensioner and new tensioner have a different diameter opening where the stud goes through them. I only see one part number listed, 169596. This us what I have purchased. I have posted a picture of the old and new next to each other. I see that this part number replaces an older number. Does the stud need replaced? What am I missing?

    Check with SRI. http://www.scuderiarampanteinnovations.com/

I can't completely remember the issue except the OEM pads get eaten and you loose tension.
IIRC Dave Helms solved the 348 chain pads getting eaten by engineering a completely different pad.

I bought the other tensioner pad that Dave is making, I am replacing both. This one was available from Ferrari for a while, not sure if it still is.

    I think you need a 169594.

The cam chain tensioner on the 348 is a unique design for that model and is NLA. SRI developed a tensioner pad replacement kit for that unit. The first production unit happens to be on my 348 and seems to be holding up fine so far (2K miles on it as of this past weekend). I believe the 348 and the 355 share the same oil pump chain tensioner, and as of a year ago that tensioner was still available. If you have an older model 348 and are changing belts, you should probably pull the front cover and check the cam chain tensioner for wear and tear. Mine was literally crumbling into pieces. Here is the new pad on my motor.

As for the OP's question, the original oil pump chian tensioner is part # 147337. The upgraded unit is what you have as part # 169596. Yep, looks like a different stud is needed. I would call or PM one of the experts here on the Forum to confirm or I would imagine the folks at Ricambi America can tell you what you need.
