The SCCA now requires 2 inch tow hooks front and back. The tow hooks that come on the Challenge are perfect for this. Does anyone know where they came from? I assume they were part of the Challenge kit or did each dealer have to come up with them? I know I was told they were there for looks and to pass the rules, but to never actually use them! I think they are just loosely screwed into the car/body.

Anyway, I would like to source tow hooks like these. While we're at it, just kinda curious on the history too.

    Hello Rob,

I know of a local company that reproduced these, I will check with them if there are still available or what it will take to do a small run.

Wow, have I ever said before this site is pretty cool? ;)

Anyway, the Hill ones are exactly what we want, but we can do without the Ferrari pricing for just SCCA club racing use. Victor, I think this would be a pretty good product for you to get into. SCCA just made it a rule that the holes have to be at least 2" round, so everyone has been scrambling and you wouldn't believe the contraptions I saw at the first race weekend. Let me know. I can get a pretty big order together to start (10 maybe) as incentive.

    Thanks,
    rob

    Folks -

I carry the Hill Challenge Hooks domestically, and they are gorgeous. I've already shipped a few to our fellow Fchatters. I wish I could offer a huge discount, but between import duties and international freight, there's just not much left for me and Mrs. JRR.

Nevertheless, I've offer to Rob that perhaps a "Group Buy" would work. If we can get 10 or more people interested, I'll offer the Towing Eye at $120, plus free shipping in the U.S. The orders would have to all be placed before some particular deadline. So, what I'd like to do is place them "on special" via the website. I won't charge anybody's credit card until 3/31 when the bulk order is considered complete. If we don't get 10 people "in", you can cancel your order, or simply purchase them at the normal price of $136.95

There are two different sizes, so make sure you order the right one!

    Best Regards,

Lets see what Victor has, I don't want these for the Ferrari and don't need them custom made for a particular model. $120 x 2 is above the Mazda budget. :)

    Rob,

If you don't need the OEM Ferrari shoulder eye bolt you can see MSCdirect.com see the big book page starting 1104 search under your choice of product:
    hoist ring
    metric centerpull hoist ring
    forged center pull hoist ring
    shoulder eye bolt
    heavy duty eye nut

If you can't find it I can measure the metric thread pitch and size for you
I think 12x1.75 or 16x2 if I remember correctly. They do go into the frame and are functional.

The car is a roller with 3000lb weight so a 3000lb capacity is over kill
these things as cheap as 8 bucks?
