correct only if one ever wants to sell one...........................i still reckon that a 360CH is a good choice of car if one wants to do say tarmac rallies, one thing that still boggles me is the dam alternator........................................the things just dont last

If they are not available now they will be soon. A bad economy is great for guys with money. The problem becomes less mantenance in a bad economy so you have to expect more bug sorting. With 360's that means SD2's. I'm pretty sure I could sort a 360 motor without SD2 but the problem becomes the F1 gearbox clutch PIS etc on 360c's. I am not sure anyone has gotten around some of those issues. That means the hassle of trailering to the dealer or even trackside problems that can end your weekend. With a 355 or 348 those cars are so simple you can darn near rebuild the whole car in a weekend.

Alternators have always been a big problem in the 360 Challenge cars and indeed the GT cars. I am not sure whether there has been a permanent fix or an update yet.

tell me about it scott, mine lasts all but about 2-3 days, grant's hasnt had a problem. It gets so hot waiting at the start of each stage that the alternator just cooks with heat..........................are the road cars any better?

Strange..I never had any alternator problems. Nor do I remember any teammates having any. Maybe you guys shouldnt run the A/C when racing! ;)

As far as 360C values, while I see the trend downwards in prices, I see the spread between the really pristine cars and beaters getting bigger...assuming there are any pristine cars left

I have not had any problems with my N-GT alternator; but I think it is purely a result of the short lap sprints that we do rather than long Targa type stages as in your case. I know that Veloqx had a lot of drama with them when racing my car and nothing has been modified in my ownership. I put it down to type of use. I also had no trouble with my 360 road car which I tracked extensively, again in shortish lap dashes.

In my experience it is VERY hard to convince a buyer that it is foolish and more expensive to buy the cheaper "beater" rather than the best example available for more $$$.

It costs a fortune to restore/rebuild these things and accumulate all the spares and equipment necessary to run them. Once you have the car in great nick and you have all the gear they are not that expensive to run. Getting them to that stage will make your eyes bleed if you start out with a dog.

any wonder why i purchased so many spares?

correct they can be expensive especially if one is bent, however considering that I was looking at GT3's as a tarmac rally car I stuck with Ferrari because of its road presence and uniqueness............plus how many more events do we really need to see porkers?
