Looking at different cars how does a tubi and challenge exhaust compare on the 348? Louder? I've never heard a challenge before. Thanks.

** I used a Challenge exhaust on my 348ts for three years. Drove the car all over the USA and was stopped one time and the cop wanted to look at my car. He never mentioned that the exhaust was too loud. It is tad bit louder than a Tubi but in a different way. You can probably get on on Ebay for less than a grand. The Tubi useta cost over 3 grand.

Been a few months since the tubi was on my 348 but I'd say the challenge
exhaust is almost (but not quite) twice as loud.
It definately has a "resonating" in your head kind of sound at low rpms. Of course at 4k and up....pure music!

I have heard Daves 348 with the challenge exhaust and can verify that it is very loud. But its a good loud, it sounds like the car is snarling.

See the comments Martin and I made in the old thread linked above by Tony- a real Challenge exhaust is too LOUD for street use, and IF you can find one will be very pricey.

I have heard both and i wish they did a challenge for my car i would buy one today as the tubi is not a patch on a challenge exhaust

is the 348 challenge exhaust quite small, in essence a couple of bent pipes.

if so i was offered one for £350 last month at oulton park race track by a guy who just had someone rear end his 348.

I cannot recall the guys name but he was from north wales.

he did advise it could only be used on the track though as it is way too loud.

I respectfully disagree. The challenge exhaust is HORRIBLE IMO (no offence intended to anyone) on both the 355 and 348 - its too loud and its unbelieveable coarse - designed for racing, not to give a good noise..

Actually, I rather like the way mine sounds, it's just that it's entirely too loud for extended driving on the street. With a helmet (or ear plugs) the decibel-level is bearable, and the sound is very cool, but neither is too practical (or legal) for street use. If, theoretically, one were to drive on the street (not that I ever do that sort of thing), it'd be prudent to keep the revs down, not to mention dumping the clutch whenever a police car shows up. All in all, a nice set-up for a race car, but way too "hair shirt" for the street unless you're a genuine masochist.
