As I continue to search for a 360 Spider. I ran across one for sale and it is a 2001 Spider with a Ferrari Challenge Exhaust installed by a very good local mechanic. What do you think about this exhaust versus the stock exhaust or tubi {which seems to be the go to after market exhaust}
Negative.. the go to exhaust is the Challenge Stadale / Race Exhaust.. Its the sh*t.. Nothing and I mean nothing sounds better.. No tubi, Larini, Capristo (well level 3 does sound pretty wicked), etc... I have the Race Exhaust and boy... Its top dog.. I still have my cats in as well.. its so perfect I dont even want to touch my cat converters.. Go one.. give it a try.. One drive and your hooked.. If you dont like loud and having your car sounding like a naughty b*tch.. dont mod the exhaust.. better yet.. go find yourself a Toyota R
I have the Stradale exhaust on my 2004 360 Spider and it is indeed awesome. Great sound and great performance. Love it!
Are you referring to the 360 Challenge exhaust or the Challenge Stradale exhaust? You say Challenge exhaust, but you may mean Stradale exhaust. Two different things. The Challenge exhaust has two single tips, while the Stradale exhaust has two double tips. Jes
I have the Stradale Exhaust and get compliments from other Ferrari owners regarding how good it sounds. Love it.
No way, this is the only way you have to go. This is the best exhaust that youn can choose for legal street use. Only with that, your 360 is a complete ferrari. Trust me, espacely in a spider.
^^^ you should disconnect your valves for even more noise and you'll also get even discolouration on each tip too. Haven't heard the cs exhaust in person but from watching loads of videos it sounds like a louder, rawer stock exhaust. Same pitches and tones. Am I right in saying the cs exhaust is similar to the stock 430 too? Tubi sounds deeper and just as loud although I prefer the cs. As for the capristo, my mate has a level 3 with switchable valves on his 355 and it's truely amazing. The sound is completely different and higher pitched than stock. Never heard another car like it and would be more compared to a harrier jump jet. Its not obnoxiously loud either like I would imagine a tubi or cs would be as the pitch is less offensive. Very classy and then an F1 howl even at medium revs. Don't know if this is the general concensus, just my personal opinion.
I installed a 430 exhaust on my 360 which from all aspects that I can determine is the same as the 360 racing exhaust. It ended costing me a few dollars less and I went that route before I saw the eBay deals for the complete racing exhausts kits for less than $2900. But in hindsight, if those deals were around when I did mine I would have gone that route. The results of the 430 exhaust on the 360 are great though. I have heard both the Tubi and I believe my exhaust sounds better. I have also heard the racing exhaust on another 360 and it sounds the same. At least to my ears. I installed relays to control the bypass valves manually using a single switch on the dash. This allows me to activate the bypass valves at low RPM for that deep throaty tone when cruising around. Very easy to do
The race exhaust with valves disconnected is very loud.. You see once the valves open your pretty much straight pipe out.. so.. you can drive alongs nice e' nice and she is very civilized but when you lay into the throttle she opens up like a mouning b*tch getting it good.. The sound is awesome and identical to the stradale.. I love when someone is checking out the car and she is purring nice e' nice.. then you give her a good rev and everyone jumps.. Its the exhaust the car was meant to have.. Valves open and disconnected the car is snarly and angry.. Yes the tips do discolor.. and I love that hue.. the key is to get them to discolor evenly.. the answer: Drive her like the b*tch that she is.. Everything will work itself out.. Vroom Vroom.. Drive on my 360 brothers.. Drive on.. R
Race exhaust from dealer are excellent price . My Tubi sound just as nice and I get many compliment from other 360 owners and a few with race exhaust . One caveat though, mine is 14y old from the number one of the early one and I suspect it has no packing so it's very loud especially with no cats
