What you really need is 4 rears. I would have kept my set if I could have found 2 extra rears.

FBB - those wheels are being painted and wrapped in a nice set of Hoosier R6s this week. I'll post pics of the transformation when done. :D

    You go girl !!!

I have a proper set on my car, but just trying to collect a back-up set so I'm not nervous about every little whack of the kerbing.

    Gentlemen.....THESE ARE RACE WHEELS

These wheels are really good "on track." They are just a wasting on a streetcar.

Precisely what I intend to use them for ("on track"). No issues here. :D

and the problem is? Are lightweight carbon seats also not allowed in a street car since they're of more value on a track?

They are also good on the road. The unsprung weight difference is noticable and the fronts are slightly wider than the stock wheels by a 1/2 inch therefor keeping more rubber on the road in corners. The backs are the same width. I need some back up rears.

IMO, the challenge wheels/tires are so much lighter than the stock 348 wheels that I can feel a difference easily, even on the street. For a 355, though, not sure how much less the challenge setup weighs, compared with stock setup.

Actually yes if they are not DOT legal seats. You see.... FIA legal carbon race shells have a short life of 5 years before 90% of the racing bodies demand either replacement or bracing. Not only are carbon racing shells not able to allow proper mounting of your 3 pt stock belts but they can fail in a streetcar and you can die.

Light race wheels are not designed for the cumulative effect of potholes and railroad tracks. Failure of a wheel at 70mph on the freeway makes for a very bad day. Street based products use a very different set of criteria for design and manufacture than real race products.

In principle, I agree 100%. I bought my set from local Fchatter Ingenere, who used them as his track set (slicks). He bought his car new, and I'm certain his 348 came with challenge wheels, which he's had on the car since 1989 (except for tracking it :))
