So on my CS, when I open the door, no interior lights turn on. When I push both buttons on the above light though, they turn on. I always assumed this was normal, but just learned that the lights do turn on when the doors are opened on 360s, so i assume it should for a CS as well. Correct?

I don't see why it should be different. The door plunger switches activate the interior light and the lights on the doors. On cars like the F355 (5.2) and the 360, the light time delay is handled by the Immobiliser ECU. On the F430 there is a dedicated light timer module.

Do your door lights work when you open the door? Do you have an immobiliser?

I mean the microswitch near the door hinge.

A more accurate description of the dome light operation would be:
The plunger switches send a signal to the Immo ECU on a white/black wire and the Immo ECU supplies a ground to the dome light (on a white wire). I don't think the door lights have a delay (?)

Check the light bulbs and switches in that over head plastic housing w the clock. I thing there is a different bulb circuit for the map light, vs the open door conv light… build could be out or loose connections bulb.. or I believe you can switch the door open light to stay off for covert night club ops.

Your door light (on the door) should be activated by the same plunger style pusher that Qavion is talking about. If your door light does not come one, you know where to look first... But on my car it can be switched off from the switch up top too.

Thanks everyone. The door light comes on when I open the doors, and always has, but not the dome lights. I'll take a look inside the dome light when I have time. Is there a fuse that controls the switched dome light also?

CS would not be and more special than a standard 360 on lights.

There are a ton of differences between the models, and some very minor that most don't even know about until you work on both cars. This could have been one of them, hence my post asking the question. I'm thankful that it's not though because I would actually like door activated interior lights on the car. Also, if it was a difference between the models, I wouldn't call it "special."

Are we talking about something else as too my experience on something like this would be to check the door switch first .. run a continuity test.

Mike's door lights do come on. On the coupe/Modena, you can't turn off the automatic dome light function if the doors are open.

This agrees with the wiring diagrams.

It's not likely to be a power issue because the dome light and door lights use the same power. The auto on function is just supplying a ground to the dome light, not power. If the manual on/off control (with the door closed) is operating the lights, the power is ok.

It sounds more and more like an Immobiliser issue.

The Modena dome light circuit looks something like this:

    Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not as complicated as it looks. Pin 3 (white wire) provides a ground for the dome light auto function (doors open). It comes from the Immobiliser ECU. Live battery power is provided on pin 2 on a light blue wire. The fuse for the light blue wire also provides power for the door lights, OBD2 socket and the glovebox light (where applicable).

If there is no ground from the Immo ECU, the manual domelight pushbutton can provide a ground to the bulb. The black wire on pin 4 provides this ground.

I have no idea why the Immo ECU was chosen to provide a ground, but it's the same on the F355 (5.2).

Ah.. just got a PM from Mike. He doesn't have an Immo ECU. Ergo, no automatic dome light function.

In theory, you could put a jumper wire on the Immo ECU plugs to make the system work. I'll try to create a diagram.

Jumper pin 12 (white wire) of the disconnected lowest plug to pin 8 (white/black wire) of the top plug.

Not sure what type of pins/sockets are used on the Immo ECU. You'd probably need to know that to do a proper job, but you could temporarily use a bit of household fusewire to show it works.

In case young folks don't know what household fusewire looks like:

If the wire accidentally shorts to ground when you're doing the test, the worst thing that can happen is that you might turn on the light.

oops.. got my white wires mixed up...

Pins 8 and 11 should be jumpered on the same plug.

That could have been embarrassing, especially on gated cars (Don't ask).
