If you are talking about the stripe itself then it is a sticker under the clear coat and not painted.
I'm talking about the results on the whole car. I believe there will be more clear coat on a factory striped car compared to one without a stripe. Can anyone confirm? Thanks
Can anyone recommend a paint thickness gauge (not very expensive) ? I would like to purchase one for inspection on a car I am about to go see...
Surprised to hear that as I always thought the stripes were painted on. Are the stripes on the scud also stickers?
No Scud stripes are painted - one of the reasons why you could spec virtually any stripe on a Scud/16M! Nice article in one of the Official Ferrari magazines about the paint shop who does the work. (Issue 4 from memory)
I think your question was answered by Russell -- the stripe is a decal and cleared over which to me would mean the clear would be thicker . Alan
Good to know. If, god forbid, there is ever damage to my hood, it would be easier to fix. BTW, $8000 for a freakin' decal. Wow!
