but a rather nice one(compared to that enzo ;-)) hope this isnt a repost http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HgGhHQOcEo
Sorry to be over the top on this, but I find it disgusting. A replica is a counterfeit and if I am Ferrari I shut these people down. The only reason anyone would buy one of these clunkers is to try and convince people they are something they are not. JMHO
Truthfully I think it's kind of cool, someone put a lot of effort into that car. I don't understand why people get so upset when someone builds a replica of a beautiful car, not everyone can afford the real thing. I wouldn't own one, but it's a nice tribute.
I don't agree with replicas as it only insults the authentic car and its incredible reputation, which has been earned over decades and hundreds of millions of dollars. They should spend their time and effort on something original and cutting edge.
That's pretty sick actually. It was good enough that I doubted it was a replica so I guess that's the best compliment it could get. I'm impressed.
I was on their website. There cars looks like the real thing on video. I don't know how they would look close up though. I might be like those women that look great from far but far from great.
How many came into this thread ready to be negative and changed course upon seeing that vid? Amazing work.
The biggest problem with these fake Ferreri's is that they are purely a cosmetic exercise only - absolutely zero performance or ability. I know only a fraction of Ferrari's actually get used properly (a real shame) but this is a very poor replica if its skin deep only based on a 406. Don't confuse all replicas with the same brush though. Look at the original GT40's and now the replica of the original GT40, the new GT40 by Ford themselves which some would argue is significantly better than the original. Its not looking good for the replica if its built on a car which was crap to begin with (and the 406 is). At the very least they'd have been better to start with a TVR as the donor car or something, at least its light, rwd and powerful.
That's what I'm thinging as well. Some drivers don't care much on performance, but focus more on appearance. Somehow, do they really need to go with FAKE car??. Why not starting with a cheaper dream car but genuine!?!.
+1. Impressive. It must have been a very expensive replication. I wonder if many of us actually own replica CS's
If you start with a 360 and a written off CS/430 you can do an 100% faithful conversion, if you start with a lesser car your doomed to failure since you'll never get the dynamics or feel of the original car. You'll just end up with a sort of 'fool-the-general-public looking-car' and none of the stuff which made the car special in the first place. CS or 430 Conversions Provided you do not skimp and change all the necessary parts including all electronics, carbon brakes, suspension, weight reduction parts, interior, etc you can do it. However the costs will really make you wince (actually, cry, yes, cry!). In essence a 360, a CS and a 430 are all the same platform with thousands of bits changed or deleted - identical Alcoa aluminum chassis (with a few added stiffening bits on the 430), same roof, same doors, same front compartment lid, etc. etc. If you change the 40-50% parts required the performance will be identical because it will a part for part identical car - but how many people are willing to do this? Not many! Don't underestimate the job! I really don't recommend trying it either because most people won't have the stomach or the inclination to see it through to its final conclusion. Unless your yearning for a completely unobtainable specification (such as a manual Challenge Stradale which wasn't an option from Ferrari) it really is not worth contemplating. This approach is NOT one that will save you money. If you just plan to end up with a CS or 430 conversion on your F1 Modena it is a very painful, very time consuming and highly costly experience. It actually costs significantly money and time to properly than to just sell your Modena and buy a CS/430. I have painstakingly converted my 360 Modena over the period of over a year (off the road the entire time!) to CS spec with a manual gearbox (including bare metal respray to Rosso Scuderia paint colour) and I can say from first hand experience it has been much more expensive and time consuming than just buying a CS. Yes I could have just purchased a CS outright and swapped out the flappy paddles for a stick for about the same money. For me, my car technically is a big improvement over the original, both for my tastes and preferences with as much as 150kg's weight loss and a more extreme nod to challenge cars while still retaining road car manners - but in terms of money down the drain - think lots. Thankfully I absolutely adore the car - exactly what I wanted.
Looks realy very nice but i would never buy this. Better to buy some Corvette or similar....These people have amazing skills, its shame they do not focuse on some own project.
A quick look and you may think it is a CS. A closer look and you see it´s fake, even on Youtube. Rims and brakediscs are the easy way to see it. Also that car is 20-25 mm higher then a real CS. Same second you see the interior you see it´s fake. Still nicely done. In a fast vidoeclip without sound even I might be fooled.
The modena fitted with CS panels are really nice replicas. The spider labeled CSS by Meridian is some piece of machinery. IMO better looking than the 430 spider. -Peter Oh PS found this old pic, hope thats ok. Image Unavailable, Please Login
By the way, does anyone know the whereabouts of this car? Would be interesting to know if it ever will be up for sale and how much it would fetch. -Peter Oh
