ferrari dino | eBay This could stretch the more experienced restorers on the site. On a more serious note If this is the car I think it is, somebody died in this and whoever is selling it needs to re-think very carefully about how greedy and immoral this is.
I'd say the description is a tad optimistic. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very Unsavoury I suspect that this was classed as a Category 'B' write off in UK insurance speak. This means that the car can be salvged for parts (which it was) and that the body shell MUST be crushed. Of course the front clip isnt part of the actual shell.........What can we say? I wouldnt give tuppence for it and nor would anybody with a conscience.
"You like my piece of 3D the wall? well guess what? someone died in that crash" I think that it would make a real show stopping converstion!
Really tasteless and bad Karma...Who would buy it. I would rather make a new front end. Regards, Alberto
I have to respectfully disagree with all the hand wringing. People buy and sell wrecked cars all the time. The parts go to putting other cars back on the road, or become something new, from coffee tables to wall art. I understand it's a Dino and a guy died in it and that's a terrible tragedy, but the parts have value, and someone will buy them. Someone already bought the motor out of this car. Should he be chastised? How about the guy who bought the wheels? Or some other part that got sold? Is it that these parts look like they've been in an accident that upsets you all? Hell the other thread here about the car and Eurospares selling off the parts, fourth post in was, "How'd it happen?" with a link to the article describing the accident. I think you guys are getting a little too righteous in your indignation. The car was salvaged, and then if the photos are accurate, crushed after most of the major parts were stripped off and sold. That's what is for sale now. It would indeed be unsavory if the ebay ad read, "Purchase the remnants of a car that was involved in a fatal accident. Tell your friends YOU have the front clip from that accident." There's no titillation going on in the ad. Overpriced? Hell yes. Something I want? Hell NO. But dastardly? Not even close. D
Perhaps you are right, perhaps a business can be cold blooded in its approach, why not. I might also see your point about the engine and other parts. However, those parts do not graphically depict the horror and, do not advertise that horror, this does, innocently or otherwise. Worse still, it is done so for profit. In my opinion it is tasteless and base. I would pass on any parts from that car.
Beside this sad background I like the idea of making Dino "Art" with old original parts. I still have the complete front with hood of my Dino 246 in my garage which I replaced against a new one after a smaller accident with a young deer 20 year ago.If you are a owner of a hall or simillar the Dino could drive "out of the wall" with headlights on or it could be modified into a Dino couch or storage under the hood. Jamie, you are absolutely right, that front end is "used" trash, and would cost more to straighten(Bondo city) than to make a new one, not to mention adding in the purchase price. The description is very creative... This demolition item, is worth a couple hundred, tops...and I would really be surprised if anybody in their right mind would buy it, but then, what do I know? Regards, Alberto
