I thought I was old but last night I was talking to my brother's girlfriend's son who is like 16. He was talking about Christal, which I dont like, as the best Champaign. It got me thinking and I can not remember when that brand got big, but I am rather sure I had NEVER HEARD of it until like 1994-1995. When did that brand get big is my question and before it did, how much did it sell for?
Cristal is one of the champaigns they make. They is Roederer. Wondering if they are in the champaign business for long is like asking if MB is in the car business for long.
Not asking how long they have been in business. Just when it took off in the US. Now days in a club in NYC you have to pay about $400 US for a bottle. But back in my early 90's club days I had never heard of it. So at some point, it fortunes inthe US changed. When was that, and how much did it sell for in the late 80's, is my question.
Tune in to your local hip-hop radio station. You'll hear Cristal mentioned in songs about once every three minutes, minimum. That's how it took off.
I believe Champaign is in Illinois. A region called Champagne is in France. That is only source of the beverage champagne in the world. The rest is just sparkling wine. Is this thread about a hooker I know in Champaign, Illinois named Crystal? How does this kid know about her, she's $1000/night?

The Continental..of course. Cristal is great stuff, I am profoundly disappointed the bling crowd likes it now. Makes it hard to find as it gets stolen frequently. You were able to buy it at a local liquor store here in Louisville for about $150 maybe 5 years ago. Now that same store is selling it for around $400.
